Thinker Christopher Hitchens argues that morality is a human made concept that was stolen by religion . His best argument, in my opinion, is that are we to think that the Jews did not know murder, rape, and stealing were immoral before the 10 Commandments ? I would argue that most organized socieities knew these things were wrong because not following them would lead to chaos and unorganization. Comments ?

I agree with Hitchens on this; morality is a natural process arrived at by any rational group of beings. It’s necessary for the continued survival of the species.

Rush Limbaugh did not start what he calls "Operation Chaos". All Rush did was put a name to it and he shed light on the phenomonon PERIOD. I voted in Ohio. I am a Republican and so is my wife. BOTH of us voted for democrats knowing full well we were going to vote for McCain in the fall.

WE DID THIS HAVE NEVER HEARD OF "OPERATION CHAOS" OR ANY KIND OF ORGANIZED EFFORT LIKE WHAT HE NOW DESCRIBES.

What "Operation Chaos" really is- is a naturally occuring phenomenon where Republicans decide they want to get involved in something that matters. Voting for McCain over Huckabee or unopposed is not to our satisfaction. Some of the more hard right conservatives are voting for the nominee that they want up against McCain in the fall, HOWEVER, the more moderate Republicans are probably voting for who they would rather see in the White House if it cant be McCain. So the reality is that #1 the votes are probably a wash for the most part and #2 that republicans are not taking orders from Rush.

Isn’t the human ability to organize and manage societies of people in a sustainable relation to the natural environment the advanced feature that sets us apart from animals, lifting us above the chaotic laws of the jungle? Organized chaos? It may look to you like a tornado hit your daughter’s room, but she probably knows where everything is.

I have had it with people who call them selves scientists and self appointed solution makers who keep on ruling out the existence of a creator even though the complexity of life around them and the fact they cannot explain zillions of things point out they might be wrong.
I explain, why is it that science develops crazy theories about the universe and the laws that govern it which happen to be way more far-fetched than the work of a creator ? They admit that the universe is too complex to be governed by chance, and they realize that if earth for instance was to be few centimetres closer or farther from the sun, no life could have existed on it in the first place ! The same thing applies to our own existence, they say there is no way the complexity of our brains, our hearts, the way we breath etc could have evolved from a simple organism that gave birth to this immense Varity of creatures all with a very precise purpose to play in the complex game of life ! And why are we the only creatures to ponder about our existence, why aren’t cows or squirrels making theories and using computers ?! why didn’t they evolve to the level we are now if we evolved from monkeys ? why didn’t some monkeys evolve to our standard ?? all these questions and many many more remain unanswered by the scientific community which keeps on proposing some far fetched “theories”, and for those who are not sure what a theory is, it’s nothing more that a speculation with no hard evidence.
So here we are, in a universe we barely understand, we try to deny the existence of a creator in order to allow our selves to behave like animals and therefore ignore all moral values which by the way, where did we get those values from, and why are they so perfect in making our lives more organised and prevent chaos and mayhem ?!!!
Now that the scientific community is stuck and cannot explain how perfect the design of life is they go as far as imagining a new theory which proposes that our universe is one of many other universes and that some of those universes might be so much technologically advanced that they would have the intelligence to simulate our universe just as we today simulate a computer game?? (meaning we are now living in a super massive computer system and on the other side of the screen are very smart green man enjoying their brand new 11 dimensional game !!!! Doesn’t that eerily remind you of something ?? someone intelligent controlling our lives and the laws of nature ??? !!! This is just instance, anything is possible, any thing is acceptable but God, no way !!!!

I just wish they open their eyes before it’s too late !

Not a surprise to me.I read up on his Kenyan activities yesterday.He has plans to help his cousin Odinga regain control of that country. People are just not researching his ties to terrorist countries and organizations..It ’s another bad book review from Oprah(she forgot to do her research!) but this time it is going to cost the Democratic party big time! so sad that people are so blind!

I can clean up and organise, but I seem not to have the necessary good habits to MAINTAIN it. I seem to live in perpetual chaos, and it frustrates me enormously. I have frequent bursts of activity where I get the place looking pristine, but within hours it looks a shambles again. There are 4 adults and 4 kids living here, so it’s not all me, but at the moment I don’t have the skills myself, so I don’t set an example and I don’t know the life habits that I should be teaching the kids. I feel ashamed, and I don’t have friends over often. This is really inconsistent with my self-image, too – I’m intelligent, capable, hard-working, upper income bracket, happy family, everything else seems fine… but I just can’t keep my house tidy. Please give me some tips to change my habits so that I can live in my home more tranquilly!

This is kinda the EXTREME solution, but I believe it is the most likely to work, if you really want to invest in a clean house.

There are actually "organizational specialists". .. you see them on TV a lot but there are "real people" versions too You hire one to come spend a day or two (or more) at your house. They help you shop for the things you need to organize, figure out how it will actually work for you (and not just only look nice when you just finished cleaning), and set it up.

They also help you deal with clutter and getting rid of the things you don’t really need to keep – this is often a big part of being a messy person – keepsakes, tchotchkies, souveniers, remembrances, neat things that you don’t know when you’ll ever use but someday you will…. believe me, I know, I’m the same way.

Finally, they’ll kinda train you techniques to practice to keep a place neat.

Once you’ve gone through all that, how about hiring a maid service to come in a vacuum, dust and clean the bathrooms and kitchen. Not only will that help keep things looking nice, but knowing she’s coming every week will help prompt you to have things put away and neat, etc.

I wouldn’t have suggested this except you mentioned that you are upper-income bracket… I can’t afford this but it’s my dream, kinda… one of the first things I’d do if I won the lottery (well, after I bought the huge new house to have a place for all my junk
